Thomas enjoying HIS icee.
Thomas enjoying his icee AND Jon's icee (while Jon was at the wave pool with Mama)
These geese were pretty bold but it made for a good language opportunity. We would give this goose 1 piece of food...we would give those geese 3 pieces of food, etc.
These were the geese that preferred to stay in the water. They also got fed, along with ducks and some fish, too! We are definitly going back to this park...we had a fantastic time talking about everything that was around us.
On Sunday Jonathan and I went out for a few hours doing some school shopping while Thomas and Dad were at home..playing and having fun. About 2hrs into our shopping my phone rings ~ it was Jim. He goes on to tell me that Thomas pulled both ears off and when he went to put them back on the window is reading H6. I tell him that means that the coils have come in touch with each other but once he puts them back on his head they should be fine. He than tells me that it was still showing H6. I told him that was impossible and it was probably an H2 or H1 and the batteries needed changing. I told him I would be home in a bit and that he could try swapping batteries so Thomas could hear.
Jonathan and I got home and Thomas was playing (quietly) in the middle of the living room with his right processor on. I called him and he didnt respond. I started waving my hand so he caught a glimpse of movement from the corner of his eye. He saw me and ran over and gave me a huge hug. I sat down to check out what was going on. I about LOST it!!!! Jim had the processors on the WRONG ears. I know this can happen and that I should be more understanding but I made it (almost) foolproof. WHen Thomas received his 2nd CI I put a basketball sticker on his right side...so that whomever was watching him if/when the processor came off would know that the CI with the basketball sticker goes on the right ear...make sure the sticker is facing you when you put the CI on. I even told him that before I left. I called him over to show him his mistake. I hope that was a lesson learned and it won't happen again.
Tuesday we went to the waterpark ~ Jon, Thomas, myself and my Mom. We had a blast and we really enjoyed our cabana. My Mom went and bought the boys each an icee. My Mom and Jonathan went back in the wave pool and Thomas and I stayed in the shade. While Jon was away Thomas had fun drinking from both of their cups. I had to take a few pics of Thomas...doing cheers with the two cups and smiling...knowing that Jonathan would flip out if he knew what Thomas was doing!!!
Thursday was Jonathan's first day of school and Thomas was pretty upset when we dropped Jon off and we pulled away from the school. So we came home and ate some breakfast, did some one on one therapy (played a bit), cleaned up and went to the store. I told him that we could go to the park before we picked Jonathan up so he was happy. When we got to the park he climbed up the steps and walked over to the slide...I kept saying to him "wait, Thomas" but he didnt look over. Darn it..his CI's must have turned off or the coils fells off. I followed him up and seen both coils on. I looke at the left side...it was on. I looked over at the right side..it was off. I went to turn it on and it didnt turn on. I knew the batteries were not dead since we just replaced them the day before. I went to press the button again and SURPRISE...the entire battery assembly had falled OUT! I searched the park and the car..nothing. UGH. At that moment I thought.."good thing he is bilateral or else he would not be able to hear for the next few hours". We were already up by Jon's school so running home and driving all the way back up was not going to happen.
He did fine with just 1 CI but I could definitly tell the difference with just the 1. He had problems finding my voice but after a few tries he would find me and hear what I was saying. Now I am paranoid with the batteries...I make sure they are REALLY pushed in.
