I can't believe its been almost 1mth since my last update. Oops!!!
Alot has been happening. Jonathan started school and Thomas is less than thrilled that Jonathan gets to go while he stays in the car and we drive away. I may start going back to work out at the YMCA and let Thomas go into the daycare there...I will call it school and he will (hopefully) like it.
Thomas has REALLY been talking ALOT. I have had a few concerns here and there but I asked the appropriate professional (SLP, RIHP,Audi) and my concerns have been adressed and I was again able to relax. I get into these occasionl mindsets that I have not been doing enough for Thomas or that he is not on target like we think he should be, etc..you get the picture. Our SLP gave us an assessment of Thomas and he is actually ahead of schedule (or where they expect a child to be 1yr post act). I was thrilled to hear that.
One of my concerns was that we thought that Thomas was having trouble with comprehension. I was told about a "6second rule" ~ when Thomas gets asked a question wait about 6 seconds...if he doesnt answer try to reword it so he will understand. After a few tries I realized that Thomas did not have the problem...it was MOMMY!!! I needed the few seconds to let him answer. For simple questions like "where is Jonathan?" "who is this?" "where is your truck?" he answers right away...no problem. For more indepth questions "what just happened to the cat?" "Where did the doggy go?" , etc. I wait a few seconds and he will answer..whew...you wouldn't believe how nervous I was getting.
Thomas is also speaking in more 2 and 3 even 4 word sentences. Today we were leaving the store, after taking Jonathan to school, and I said to Thomas "we are going back home..maybe we will see Daddy" and Thomas looked up at me and said "No, Daddy at work...Bye Bye Daddy". Sunday is my Grandma's Birthday and I was tellin Thomas that we have to get ready for Baba's Birthday (we call her Baba) and he said "appy boofday Baba" she will be so excited to hear Thomas say that...it will surely be one of her best gifts.
I should have some more pictures to put up. My Uncle Mitch and Aunt Rose from Virginia came in for Labor Day and we had the BEST time together. My Uncle, myself, Jonathan and Thomas went to the zoo and it brought back so many incredible memories of when my Uncle used to take me to the zoo when I was little...In the 3 days they were visiting my Uncle took over 500 pictures. I am awaiting the flashdrive so I can check them out!!!
All is well over at our house. After Sunday and the 60MPH winds leftover from Ike tore down a few tree limbs at our house~ but that's about it. My Mom and Grandma got hit kind of hard. A few broken windows and torn power lines. They have had no electricity since Sunday night. Although yesterday their neighbor came over and offered to run an extension cord from his garage to their living room...they took him up on his offer. So now they have a lamp and a tv ~ I thought that was really nice of their neighbor. For the first few days while visiting Thomas would pull out all of his trucks and start playing. He would glance up at us and say "te be on" (tv on). i would tell him that the tv is broken so he he would get up and walk over to the tv and try pressing the power button while saying "te be..ON"..he would walk over to the remote and hand it to my Grandma and say "Baba..te be on?" it was really bugging him that the tv and the ceiling fans were not working. Tomorrow night they will be staying at a hotel so the boys and I will stop over so they can swim for a bit.
