Decisions, decisions, decisions

Feb 23rd is Thomas' transition meeting. When we will meet with the "team" (school speech therapist, TOD, director, itinerant teacher and of course, us) to discus the testing that Thomas will go through and more importantly...we have until than to make the decision whether to send him to Kind. or pre-k next year.
I am on the fence with this one. We are still working on the alphabet, spelling our last name (its a hard one), not to mention his address and phone number. Socially he is ready for Kindergarten ~ I'm not so sure with his pre-academics.
I know in time he will "get it" but I don't want him entering Kindergarten behind his peers and try to play catch up. I spoke with Thomas' private SLP and her opinion was that he is ready. She doesn't think that another year of Pre-K will teach him anything more than K will.
I still want to talk with his pre-k teacher(s) to see what they think and of course, the rest of his "team". As for now, we will continue learning the alphabet, our address, phone number and the dreaded last name (never thought of that when I fell in love years ago...lol)

Go,go,go. I am sure he can make it. Just one step at a time. I know it is not easy since communication is one of the biggest weakness even if you have hearing aids or cochlear implants. Keep it up!
