A Question .....

I have a question to any CI Moms/Dads/recipients...has this ever happened to you or have you heard of it?

On our way to school this morning Thomas says "Mom, God Bless You", I thought to myself "he must have thought I sneezed" so I said "Thank you" and we continued.

About a minute later, I heard screaming from Thomas. I turned around and saw him crying and ripping his ears off. I pulled over and jumped into the back seat.

He was so scared and panicked it broke my heart. I took the batteries out, waited a minute, pushed them back in, turned them on and placed them (slowly) back on his ears. He said they were better, he calmed down so we continued on to school.

He really couldnt describe what happened. The initial noise had to sound like a sneeze...maybe really loud static? I dont know what it was but it totally freaked me out and my heart ached for him all day. He was so worried that it was going to happen again (I did call and leave a message for his teacher to tell her what happened). Thank goodness...it didnt!

How scary!!! Although it's never happened to us, this is one of my biggest fears. Poor honey! I'm watching to see if you get any replies because I want to know too! Hope it doesn't happen again!

Tammy ~
We met with our audi and two Cochlear reps (they happen to be in town ~ I was happy).
Our audi did her usual testing and she said everything looked fine.
The Cochlear reps did very indepth integrity testing on the internal part(s). Everything was working correctly!
So, we don't know why this happened. A complete fluke...just keeping my fingers crossed that it doesnt happen again.
They did tell me that in some instances it could happen due to a radio tower or a cell phone tower!
